Alaska's Political Circus / Web ad

Today, at a Palin Truth Squad Press Conference in Alaska, the McCain-Palin campaign announced the release of its latest web ad, entitled "Alaska's Political Circus." The ad chronicles the antics of Obama partisans that have transformed a previously nonpolitical inquiry into a political circus designed to undermine Governor Palin.

The web ad can be viewed at the Palin Truth Squad's new website: www.PalinTruthFiles.com. PalinTruthFiles.com is a resource for voters to arm themselves with the true facts of this tainted inquiry.

Script For "Alaska's Political Circus" (Web 1:20)

ANNCR: In Alaska. The circus has come to town.

When Gov. Sarah Palin dismissed Walter Monegan over insubordination regarding his budget, blogger conspiracy theories started to fly and an investigation ensued.

Meet Sen. Hollis French. An Obama supporter.

He moved the investigation deadline to the middle of the presidential campaign, saying it could lead to an October surprise.

Meet Sen. Kim Elton. An Obama donor who continues to ignore the calls of his own committee members to reconsider whether the investigation is legitimate.

And then there's Steve Branchflower. Appointed as a QUOTE independent investigator by Elton. Branchflower and French were recently exposed for colluding on the issuing of subpoenas.

So why are they even investigating Gov. Palin? Conspiracy theorists say it's because Monegan was dismissed because he wouldn't fire Trooper Michael Wooten.

Even after Wooten was cited for tasering his 10-year-old stepson.

Secrecy, collusion, and October surprises. It's nothing more than a three-ring circus emceed by Obama partisans.

Governor Sarah Palin On The Hugh Hewitt Show

(She talks like I think! It is SO great to have someone like her running for office. We just have to get her elected.)

"It's time that normal Joe six-pack American is finally represented in the position of vice presidency, and I think that that's kind of taken some people off guard, and they're out of sorts, and they're ticked off about it, but it's motivation for John McCain and I to work that much harder to make sure that our ticket is victorious, and we put government back on the side of the people of Joe six-pack like me, and we start doing those things that are expected of our government, and we get rid of corruption, and we commit to the reform that is not only desired, but is deserved by Americans." -- Governor Sarah Palin

Sarah Palin"
Hugh Hewitt Show"
September 30, 2008

Hugh Hewitt: Governor, your candidacy has ignited extreme hostility, even some hatred on the left and in some parts of the media. Are you surprised? And what do you attribute this reaction to?

Palin: Oh, I think they're just not used to someone coming in from the outside saying you know what? It's time that normal Joe six-pack American is finally represented in the position of vice presidency, and I think that that's kind of taken some people off guard, and they're out of sorts, and they're ticked off about it, but it's motivation for John McCain and I to work that much harder to make sure that our ticket is victorious, and we put government back on the side of the people of Joe six-pack like me, and we start doing those things that are expected of our government, and we get rid of corruption, and we commit to the reform that is not only desired, but is deserved by Americans....

Hewitt: Governor, let's close with some foreign affairs. It is reported that you had an Israeli flag in your governor's office. You wore an Israeli flag pin occasionally. One, is that true? And two, why your support for Israel?

Palin: Well, it is true, and I ran into Shimon Peres recently at a meeting, and he even pointed that out. He said I saw a picture of you on the internet, and you had an Israeli flag in your state government office, and I said I sure do. You know, my heart is with you. And all of those trials and tribulations throughout history that Israel has gone through, not only does that allow me to want to support that country, but Israel is our strongest and most important ally in the Middle East. And they are a democratic country who I believe deserves our support, and I know that John McCain believes as I do that Israel is our friend, and we need to be there to support them. They are there for us, and I do love that country.

Hewitt: Last question, Governor. Have you and Todd heard from your son? And how is it on your nerves having your son deployed?

Palin: That little stinker, I guess he's called his girlfriend a couple of times, but can you believe he hasn't called his momma yet? He's over there. They were just leaving Kuwait heading into Iraq, and I am just so extremely proud of Track, my son, and all of the men and women, of course, serving in the military. I'm proud that my son made this independent and very wise decision as such a young man at 18, deciding you know, he realized there's something he can do to help, to contribute, to help protect our nation, and I couldn't be more proud of him and all those who choose to serve in our military. They're serving for the right reasons. God bless them, God love them.

Hewitt: Governor Sarah Palin, look forward to talking to you again, good luck on Thursday night.
Palin: Thank you so much. Talk to you soon.

John McCain: Inactaction is Not An Option

My Friends,

We are in the greatest financial crisis of our lifetimes. Congressional inaction has put every American and the entire economy at the gravest risk. Yesterday the country and the world looked to Washington for leadership, and Congress once again came up empty-handed.

I am disappointed at the lack of resolve and bipartisan good will among members of both parties to fix this problem. Bipartisanship is a tough thing; never more so when you're trying to take necessary but publicly unpopular action. But inaction is not an option.

If we do nothing, many businesses may fail.

Sonic Corporation, a drive-in restaurant chain based in Oklahoma, learned on Thursday that one of its lenders, GE Capital, had stopped extending new loans to the chain's franchisees. That will block plans to rebuild restaurants, add equipment and open new locations.

When financing dries up, students can't get loans. In Wisconsin, more than 100 Milwaukee Area Technical College students couldn't access private loans to fund their education. Fortunately the school was able to come up with emergency loans, but this temporary arrangement cannot continue. Markets need to work so that people can get financial help and students can be educated. Again, inaction is not an option.

In light of the House's failure to act, this morning, I spoke to the President about two things that the administration has not done, but should do following the inaction of Congress.

First, the Treasury has already used its Exchange Stabilization Fund to back money market accounts. I encourage it to use it this fund as creatively as possible to provide backstop for accounts across our financial system to maintain confidence on the part of savers and investors.

And second, the recent housing bill gave the government nearly $1 trillion in authority to purchase mortgages. Housing and mortgages are at the root of this crisis. The Administration can take these actions with the stroke of the pen to help alleviate the crisis gripping our economy. I urge them to do so.

The FDIC should quickly be granted the authority to increase the deposit insurance cap from $100,000 to $250,000 so that families do not have to worry about their money. We cannot allow a crisis in our financial system to become a crisis in confidence.

I call on everyone in Washington to come together in a bipartisan way to address this crisis. I know that many of the solutions to this problem may be unpopular, but the dire consequences of inaction will be far more damaging to the economic security of American families and the fault will be all ours. And to my supporters, I assure you I will continue to do whatever I can to aid in a constructive answer to the challenge before us.

Sincerely,
John McCain

P.S. I'm asking you to pass this email along to your friends, family, neighbors and colleagues. We must spread the word that inaction is not an option.

Sarah Palin, Joe Biden, Hate and the Media

Joe Biden has been on the Washington political scene for what, 35 years or so? Sarah Palin has been on the Washington political scene for a bit over a month?

Joe Biden makes a gaff and it's cute, funny, and, you know, "just Joe".

Sarah Palin makes a gaff and she's not ready for prime time.

Joe Biden has an interview with Katie Couric and she's touching his knee, cutting up with him, obviously comfortable with him (and he still makes a gaffe ;-)

Sarah Palin has an interview with Katie Couric and the setting is stilted, Katie manages to control her facial expressions but not the gotcha mentality and she gets her moment.

I was listening to Fox & Friends for a minute or two this morning and they were talking about the women who absolutely hate Sarah Palin. One of them commented that it seemed to be big city not mid-America who had a problem with her.

I've heard that before and have kind of picked up on it myself.

Here's my theory on that one:

Sarah Palin is fulfilled and happy. She has a career and is accomplishing something meaningful with her life. She has five beautiful children and a real-dude husband who's cute and supportive (which is like extra icing on the side, eat it with a spoon!).

These New York types and Hollywood-the-world-revolves-around-me types see how shallow their lives really are. She shows how meaningless much of what they do actually is, how little they bring to the table. She makes them feel inadequate.

For the rest of us, those who don't have the need for public adoration and don't need to have our egos propped up by others, Sarah is a true, true breath of fresh air, someone we can admire. We're pleased she has accomplished all she has and don't feel the need to tear her down to make ourselves feel better about who we are.

We can have our inadequacies but we're able to accept ourselves and we're strong in ways that the women who have to tear others down to feel good will never be.

Strong women, truly strong women, love Sarah Palin. Those who need outside props to fill their inner space can't handle anyone of competence.

Think about it! Just by being who she is Sarah Palin makes them feel small. The cling to their groups (not their guns and religion ;-) to give themselves an identity.

I can understand not liking some of the things Sarah Palin believes in and not wanting to vote for her. But hate? But this obsession some have with her? I heard Tina Fey talking the other night about playing Sarah Palin on Saturday Night Live. She was having real problems with it, said she hoped she never had to play her again after November 4th. It wasn't so much what she said as how she said it that showed her absolute need to be accepted by her peers.

Ah well, I could go on in this vein until long after all the cows in the world were home in their barns and still not touch on all the underlying personal instability that makes a person have to hate someone they don't know. Irritation that the Party they hate and vilify might be the first to accomplish what should be there's by right (first woman President) plays into things for some. The Democrats blew it when they didn't choose Hillary Clinton and they can't stand it that the Republicans might beat them to yet another first. They are fanning the winds of resentment and hate just as much as they can.

It's up to us to fight the good and decent fight for Sarah Palin, John McCain and true Republican values (not the ones some of our so-called leaders have ignored for these past years).

Don't let the media get you down and don't make the mistake of letting your moods swing with the various leanings of the media or the polls. Stay strong, keep your spirits up no matter what the media tries to cram down your throat and let's win in November!!!

From Office of Speaker Nancy Pelosi -- Sept. 28, 2008

REINVEST, REIMBURSE, REFORM
IMPROVING THE FINANCIAL RESCUE LEGISLATION

Significant bipartisan work has built consensus around dramatic improvements to the original Bush-Paulson plan to stabilize American financial markets -- including cutting in half the Administration's initial request for $700 billion and requiring Congressional review for any future commitment of taxpayers' funds. If the government loses money, the financial industry will pay back the taxpayers.3 Phases of a Financial Rescue with Strong Taxpayer Protections
Reinvest in the troubled financial markets … to stabilize our economy and insulate Main Street from Wall Street

Reimburse the taxpayer … through ownership of shares and appreciation in the value of purchased assets
Reform business-as-usual on Wall Street … strong Congressional oversight and no golden parachutes
CRITICAL IMPROVEMENTS TO THE RESCUE PLAN
Democrats have insisted from day one on substantial changes to make the Bush-Paulson plan acceptable -- protecting American taxpayers and Main Street -- and these elements will be included in the legislation
Protection for taxpayers, ensuring THEY share IN ANY profits
Cuts the payment of $700 billion in half and conditions future payments on Congressional review
Gives taxpayers an ownership stake and profit-making opportunities with participating companies
Puts taxpayers first in line to recover assets if participating company fails
Guarantees taxpayers are repaid in full -- if other protections have not actually produced a profit
Allows the government to purchase troubled assets from pension plans, local governments, and small banks that serve low- and middle-income families
Limits on excessive compensation for CEOs and executives
New restrictions on CEO and executive compensation for participating companies:
No multi-million dollar golden parachutes
Limits CEO compensation that encourages unnecessary risk-taking
Recovers bonuses paid based on promised gains that later turn out to be false or inaccurate
Strong independent oversight and transparency
Four separate independent oversight entities or processes to protect the taxpayer
A strong oversight board appointed by bipartisan leaders of Congress
A GAO presence at Treasury to oversee the program and conduct audits to ensure strong internal controls, and to prevent waste, fraud, and abuse
An independent Inspector General to monitor the Treasury Secretary's decisions
Transparency -- requiring posting of transactions online -- to help jump start private sector demand
Meaningful judicial review of the Treasury Secretary's actions
Help to prevent home foreclosures crippling the American economy
The government can use its power as the owner of mortgages and mortgage backed securities to facilitate loan modifications (such as, reduced principal or interest rate, lengthened time to pay back the mortgage) to help reduce the 2 million projected foreclosures in the next year
Extends provision (passed earlier in this Congress) to stop tax liability on mortgage foreclosures
Helps save small businesses that need credit by aiding small community banks hurt by the mortgage crisis—allowing these banks to deduct losses from investments in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac stocks

Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae and Franklin Raines, the TRUTH

Saw this video on http://scaredofsarah.blogspot.com posted earlier today, then say it posted later on another one of our Read My Lipstick Network blogs! We ALL need to post this and get everyone possible to watch it. Great actual video footage of the real culprits in the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac debacle. Hear as the Republicans try to get the Dems to sign onto more regulation and point out the potential problems and watch as the Dems stand up for their buddy Franklin Raines and the agencies which are pushing money to them.

Deal or No Deal, Dems Continue the Lie

There's a comment on another one of my posts, which I'm not going to bother to approve*, saying they had a bailout deal before John McCain showed up and the deal fell through because the Republicans were just supporting their candidate, it was just politics, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Give it up.

Even conservative Democrats are saying there wasn't a deal. The rest of the Dem crew are just twisting and avoiding and will never say they were wrong.

The Democrats had the votes to go ahead if they wanted, John McCain or no John McCain. They didn't have the guts to cram their so-called deal down the throats of the American public without the support of Republicans. No guts. They didn't want to be the ones to be blamed if their version fell thought. House Republicans had NOT signed onto it, and many conservative Democrats were relieved when John McCain came in to save the day.

At least John McCain cared enough to be there. He took a huge risk when he put his campaign aside and I appreciate the fact that he was willing to attempt to help, regardless of how much of an impact it may or may not have had. I love how he's handling this, especially his comments this morning about whether to take credit or not! He simply did what he felt was right and Obamababy felt like a phone call or two was sufficient. Some leadership.

It's a proven fact that there was no deal. Nada. The Democrats made a huge mistake in their rush to come out and say there was a deal and they blew it. The only people who are believing their twisting of reality are Obama zombies who'd believe anything that came out of the mouth of their chosen one or his chosen representatives.

* yes, I'm censoring 'cause it's just more twisting of facts and not worth anyone's time.

"Patently False" - the truth about McCain's roll in the bailout dealings

"This sort of clumsy attempt by Harry Reid and the Democrats to say that a deal had been reached at one o'clock yesterday afternoon and suddenly, to put it in Harry Reid's words, 'and then guess who came to town and it completely fell apart?' I mean that is a patently false explanation of what happened." -- The Examiner's Bill Sammon

"There wasn't a deal. You have to first have to accept a predicate that there was an arrangement agreed to by all of the necessary lawmakers and authorities -- that was essentially a piece of paper and a proposal that had been discussed and agreed to by one senate committee that's not the same as a deal."-- Fox News' Carl Cameron

Fox News
September 26, 2008

Fox News' Jon Scott: "Carl, give us your assessment of the statement that Harry Reid made a little bit earlier during that news conference. He didn't use John McCain's name, but he said that things were proceeding along swimmingly, essentially. And they were, you know, getting close. And then he said a certain person came to Washington and the wheels fell off. Is that an accurate description of what happened?"

Fox News' Carl Cameron: "No. There wasn't a deal. You have to first accept a predicate that there was an arrangement agreed to by all the necessary lawmakers and authorities -- that was essentially a piece of paper and a proposal that had been discussed and agreed to by one senate committee -- that's not the same as a deal. A deal in budget parlance and bailout parlance requires the White House, the regulators, the House and Senate Republicans and Democrats.

And because House Republicans were not given an adequate seat at the table, Republicans had great misgivings about this -- the American people have great misgivings about this -- I mean 60% and more in many polls say that the public just doesn't like this. They think its way to big a bailout with not enough insurance that the Devil is not in those details. So McCain's role in this was to bring about progress for a deal, which as of this hour has not yet existed. They are getting clo ser, they say, but yesterday because there was a commerce committee deal does not constitute finality, that was McCain's point and he has been making it since Monday. And Harry Reid saying that we shouldn't inject Presidential politics into this and then immediately turn to John McCain raises some questions. Everybody is playing politics, with less than 40 days before the election, of course this was going to be looked at through partisan prisms, but how about looking at it through taxpayer prisms, taxpayer glasses. All of this discussion about we're worried about Wall Street, but more about main street -- taxpayers are included in both of those places, and Republicans in the House say they were not brought to the table adequately, and these aren't John McCain's idea's per se, he just brought all the people together so that these ideas could be articulated and if Democrats buy into them, that will be part of the deal as yet uncut." ...

The Examiner's Bill Sammon: "First of all I just wanted to say, I want to echo what Carl said, this sort of clumsy attempt by Harry Reid and the Democrats to say that a deal had been reached at one o'clock yesterday afternoon and suddenly, to put it in Harry Reid's words, 'and then guess who came to town and it completely fell apart?' I mean that is a patently false explanation of what happened. And it would seem to be an attempt to preemptively set up John McCain for blame when he did arrive in town because there wasn't a deal."

John McCain's Remarks on the Economic Crisis

New York, NY
Wednesday, September 24, 2008

America this week faces an historic crisis in our financial system. We must pass legislation to address this crisis. If we do not, credit will dry up, with devastating consequences for our economy. People will no longer be able to buy homes and their life savings will be at stake. Businesses will not have enough money to pay their employees. If we do not act, ever corner of our country will be impacted. We cannot allow this to happen.

Last Friday, I laid out my proposal and I have since discussed my priorities and concerns with the bill the Administration has put forward. Senator Obama has expressed his priorities and concerns. This morning, I met with a group of economic advisers to talk about the proposal on the table and the steps that we should take going forward. I have also spoken with members of Congress to hear their perspective.

It has become clear that no consensus has developed to support the Administration's proposal. I do not believe that the plan on the table will pass as it currently stands, and we are running out of time.

Tomorrow morning, I will suspend my campaign and return to Washington after speaking at the Clinton Global Initiative. I have spoken to Senator Obama and informed him of my decision and have asked him to join me.

I am calling on the President to convene a meeting with the leadership from both houses of Congress, including Senator Obama and myself. It is time for both parties to come together to solve this problem.

We must meet as Americans, not as Democrats or Republicans, and we must meet until this crisis is resolved. I am directing my campaign to work with the Obama campaign and the commission on presidential debates to delay Friday night's debate until we have taken action to address this crisis.

I am confident that before the markets open on Monday we can achieve consensus on legislation that will stabilize our financial markets, protect taxpayers and homeowners, and earn the confidence of the American people. All we must do to achieve this is temporarily set politics aside, and I am committed to doing so.

Following September 11th, our national leaders came together at a time of crisis. We must show that kind of patriotism now. Americans across our country lament the fact that partisan divisions in Washington have prevented us from addressing our national challenges. Now is our chance to come together to prove that Washington is once again capable of leading this country.

Barack Obama Attacks Running Mate For Having Bailout Position

I watched a few minutes of the interview discussed below because someone had left the TV on NCB when I flipped it on this morning, couldn't hack it... but I tried so I'd think that was worth a few brownie points for stamina? right? If it had been on any station other than NBC I might have been able to hang in there a bit longer, but I'm joining the boycott against the station so it isn't going on in this household. Joe Biden Calls Obama Ad Terrible

Lipstick Smears just wrote about this in her blog (great blog name!) - go read her comments at http://lipsticksmears.blogspot.com. I won't add anything else other than she hit it right on the nail! Here's the info from the McCain-Palin team:

Joe Biden Calls Own Campaign Ad "Terrible" And Says He "Would Have Never Done It"

"I thought that was terrible, by the way. ... I didn't know we did it, and if I'd had anything to do with it, we would have never done it." -- Joe Biden On Obama-Biden Campaign Ad
Joe BidenInterview With CBS' "Evening News"September 22, 2008
CBS' Katie Couric: "Are you disappointed with the tone of the campaign -- the lipstick on the pig stuff and some of the ads? And you guys haven't been completely guilt-free, making fun of John McCain's inability to use a computer?"
Biden: "I thought that was terrible, by the way."
Couric: "Why'd you do it then?"
Biden: "I didn't know we did it, and if I'd had anything to do with it, we would have never done it. I don't think Barack... you know, I just think that was..."
Couric: "Did Barack Obama approve that ad? He said he did, right?"
Biden: "I don't think anything was intentional about that. They were trying to make another point."

Priceless! Obama Praises John McCain's Record Of Reform

The McCain-Palin team needs to make this a commercial!!!

"There is one person who's been consistent on reform issues, and that's been John McCain." -- Barack Obama

At today's speech in Green Bay, WI, Barack Obama spent much of his time attacking John McCain's reform credentials. Yet, two years ago before he was running for president, Barack Obama was saying something quite different when he praised John McCain's reform record:

Barack Obama: "There Is One Person Who's Been Consistent On Reform Issues, And That's Been John McCain." "I have asked them to prepare a list of additional proposals, additional reforms that they think will strengthen what we already have. And I will make a presentation to Democratic leadership and the caucus about some of those proposals, because I want -- and I know Joe Lieberman wants -- the strongest possible bill. And so they're in the process of doing that now. The second thing I want to mention is, you know, I know that, as I've said before, the Republicans seem to have found religion on this thing. And I'm glad about it. There is one person who's been consistent on reform issues, and that's been John McCain." (Barack Obama, Press Conference, 2/1/06)

Still laughing at comment

A brilliant mind (drip sarcasm) left a comment on one of my previous blogs (which I didn't post) saying Thank God Sarah Palin was there to save the banks, referred to her degree and the fact that she could see Russia from her "year". Yeah, they wrote from her year, whatever that means . Whacky weed, alchihole or public education, take your pick.

I'll take Sarah Palin's experience over Barack Obama's any day. Geez, talk about a light-weight when compared to Sarah!

Sarah is going to be VICE President and we have a sharp, experienced, intelligent, no-nonsense guy at the top of the ticket.

I love it that everyone on the Left is still comparing Barack Obama to Sarah Palin and getting all uptight about the support she's receiving.

I'd put a mother of five up against Ahmadinejad anytime!

I have to go to work, can't go into depth here, just wanted to respond since it was such a silly comment.

Also wanted to suggest that everyone on the Read My Lipstick Network list with a Blogger blog to go to "Settings", click the "Comment" tab and set your choices to "ALWAYS" on the comment moderation choice --- you put your email account in and it sends you an email for prior approval for comments. It will allow you to keep the trash talk out! I have my choice set to allow anonymous comments rather than just blogger members or other since I have comment moderation on. That allows you to get more comments than the other choices.

What a great speech! "Palin on Ahmadinejad: 'He Must Be Stopped'"

"Palin on Ahmadinejad: 'He Must Be Stopped'"
Governor Sarah Palin
New York Sun
September 22, 2008

Governor Palin, the Republican nominee for vice president, was scheduled to speak today at a rally in Dag Hammarskjold Plaza to protest the appearance here of President Ahmadinejad of Iran. Her appearance was canceled by rally organizers who sought a nonpolitical event. Following are the remarks Mrs. Palin would have given:

***

I am honored to be with you and with leaders from across this great country -- leaders from different faiths and political parties united in a single voice of outrage.
Tomorrow, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will come to New York -- to the heart of what he calls the Great Satan -- and speak freely in this, a country whose demise he has called for.

Ahmadinejad may choose his words carefully, but underneath all of the rhetoric is an agenda that threatens all who seek a safer and freer world. We gather here today to highlight the Iranian dictator's intentions and to call for action to thwart him.

He must be stopped.

The world must awake to the threat this man poses to all of us. Ahmadinejad denies that the Holocaust ever took place. He dreams of being an agent in a "Final Solution" -- the elimination of the Jewish people. He has called Israel a "stinking corpse" that is "on its way to annihilation." Such talk cannot be dismissed as the ravings of a madman -- not when Iran just this summer tested long-range Shahab-3 missiles capable of striking Tel Aviv, not when the Iranian nuclear program is nearing completion, and not when Iran sponsors terrorists that threaten and kill innocent people around the world.

The Iranian government wants nuclear weapons. The International Atomic Energy Agency reports that Iran is running at least 3,800 centrifuges and that its uranium enrichment capacity is rapidly improving. According to news reports, U.S. intelligence agencies believe the Iranians may have enough nuclear material to produce a bomb within a year.

The world has condemned these activities. The United Nations Security Council has demanded that Iran suspend its illegal nuclear enrichment activities. It has levied three rounds of sanctions. How has Ahmadinejad responded? With the declaration that the "Iranian nation would not retreat one iota" from its nuclear program.

So, what should we do about this growing threat? First, we must succeed in Iraq. If we fail there, it will jeopardize the democracy the Iraqis have worked so hard to build, and empower the extremists in neighboring Iran. Iran has armed and trained terrorists who have killed our soldiers in Iraq, and it is Iran that would benefit from an American defeat in Iraq.

If we retreat without leaving a stable Iraq, Iran's nuclear ambitions will be bolstered. If Iran acquires nuclear weapons -- they could share them tomorrow with the terrorists they finance, arm, and train today. Iranian nuclear weapons would set off a dangerous regional nuclear arms race that would make all of us less safe.

But Iran is not only a regional threat; it threatens the entire world. It is the no. 1 state sponsor of terrorism. It sponsors the world's most vicious terrorist groups, Hamas and Hezbollah. Together, Iran and its terrorists are responsible for the deaths of Americans in Lebanon in the 1980s, in Saudi Arabia in the 1990s, and in Iraq today. They have murdered Iraqis, Lebanese, Palestinians, and other Muslims who have resisted Iran's desire to dominate the region. They have persecuted countless people simply because they are Jewish.

Iran is responsible for attacks not only on Israelis, but on Jews living as far away as Argentina. Anti-Semitism and Holocaust denial are part of Iran's official ideology and murder is part of its official policy. Not even Iranian citizens are safe from their government's threat to those who want to live, work, and worship in peace. Politically-motivated abductions, torture, death by stoning, flogging, and amputations are just some of its state-sanctioned punishments.

It is said that the measure of a country is the treatment of its most vulnerable citizens. By that standard, the Iranian government is both oppressive and barbaric. Under Ahmadinejad's rule, Iranian women are some of the most vulnerable citizens.

If an Iranian woman shows too much hair in public, she risks being beaten or killed.

If she walks down a public street in clothing that violates the state dress code, she could be arrested.

But in the face of this harsh regime, the Iranian women have shown courage. Despite threats to their lives and their families, Iranian women have sought better treatment through the "One Million Signatures Campaign Demanding Changes to Discriminatory Laws." The authorities have reacted with predictable barbarism. Last year, women's rights activist Delaram Ali was sentenced to 20 lashes and 10 months in prison for committing the crime of "propaganda against the system." After international protests, the judiciary reduced her sentence to "only" 10 lashes and 36 months in prison and then temporarily suspended her sentence. She still faces the threat of imprisonment.

Earlier this year, Senator Clinton said that "Iran is seeking nuclear weapons, and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps is in the forefront of that" effort. Senator Clinton argued that part of our response must include stronger sanctions, including the designation of the IRGC as a terrorist organization. John McCain and I could not agree more.

Senator Clinton understands the nature of this threat and what we must do to confront it. This is an issue that should unite all Americans. Iran should not be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons. Period. And in a single voice, we must be loud enough for the whole world to hear: Stop Iran!
Only by working together, across national, religious, and political differences, can we alter this regime's dangerous behavior. Iran has many vulnerabilities, including a regime weakened by sanctions and a population eager to embrace opportunities with the West. We must increase economic pressure to change Iran's behavior.

Tomorrow, Ahmadinejad will come to New York. On our soil, he will exercise the right of freedom of speech -- a right he denies his own people. He will share his hateful agenda with the world. Our task is to focus the world on what can be done to stop him.

We must rally the world to press for truly tough sanctions at the U.N. or with our allies if Iran's allies continue to block action in the U.N. We must start with restrictions on Iran's refined petroleum imports.

We must reduce our dependency on foreign oil to weaken Iran's economic influence.
We must target the regime's assets abroad; bank accounts, investments, and trading partners.
President Ahmadinejad should be held accountable for inciting genocide, a crime under international law.

We must sanction Iran's Central Bank and the Revolutionary Guard Corps -- which no one should doubt is a terrorist organization.

Together, we can stop Iran's nuclear program.

Senator McCain has made a solemn commitment that I strongly endorse: Never again will we risk another Holocaust. And this is not a wish, a request, or a plea to Israel's enemies. This is a promise that the United States and Israel will honor, against any enemy who cares to test us. It is John McCain's promise and it is my promise.

Thank you.

Sign Petition Protesting Media's Treatment of Gov. Sarah Palin

Please sign (and pass on) petition protesting the media's treamtent of Governor Palin http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/womenforpalin/

Please vote on PBS poll asking if Governor Palin is qualified. It's quick and don't want to see PBS report Palin isn't qualified becauseof an online poll. www.pbs.org/now/polls/poll-435.html

We're in a pickle.

No doubt about it, the United States finance system is the pits at the moment. I don't see anything positive about where we are and I don't see us digging our way out for years to come.

I listened to Secretary Henry Paulson on three programs this morning (yes, I skipped church, bad girl that I am today). I heard him speak on Fox News, Meet the Press and ABC. Three different questioners but he was consistent in his answers.

One moment I'd feel better when I heard his comments, then I'd hear the next and feel like we were flying by the seat of our pants. We are in a pickle and it seems based on all the various conversations this morning that no one has a good grasp of the best thing to do. They are hoping and making best guess choices. Scary.

I listened to Christopher Dodd (how can anyone give him ANY credibility given the amounts he's taken from Fannie May while supposedly regulating the failed agency???) and heard politics as usual. The Democrats are going to try and hold our future as hostage so they can get some pet projects through. Half the country is going to rally to their cause and enough Republicans will cave to give them what they want.

I hope I'm wrong. I hope it's the Republicans who hold strong and just get this thing through without any extra garbage attached. Work on the rest of it afterwards when we have cooler minds and can really look at what we're doing!

We are heading toward Socialism sure as I'm breathing if the Democrats take over in January. It's enough that they have the power at the moment but can you imagine what will happen if we have a Democratic Senate and White House?

1984, Animal Farm, Atlas Shrugged.

With politic and partisanship being what it is at the moment I'm not sure they're going to be able to come up with a plan that won't have us in a bigger mess in the future.

Does anyone think that Welfare was the right thing to give to politicians to handle many years back? Think about every program that started with good intentions. Once big government got hold of it they twisted it into something else to give themselves more power.

We need John McCain and Sarah Palin more than ever now. Whoever takes the helm over the next few years is going to struggle with huge problems and will be lambasted in the press no matter which way they go, but we need people who will not take us further down the road to socialism.

I hope people will put aside partisanship and their simplistic view of the Presidency and look at the long-term and the repercussions from their choice on November 4th (or tomorrow since in many states [all of them???] early voting starts September 22nd).

We Love You Sarah Palin - pro-Palin blog

Hey gals and guys in the Read My Lipstick Network, I just came across a fairly new blog titled "We Love You Sarah Palin". We need to support all the pro-Palin and pro-McCain blogs! I've added the blog to my list so I can follow her posts, you may want to do the same.

If you like the blog maybe we can ask her to join the Network.

Nationalization of the United States, Barack Obama and Fidel Castro

It seems to me that people should be more scared of Obama than ever given all that is going on with our financial institutions, Wall Street, the housing industry and the overall economy.

We know Barack Obama's ultimate goal seems to be to turn the United States into a socialist country.

The current moves by our government will make it that much easier for Obama to reach his goals if he wins in November.

Once in office he'll decry the huge debt he has inherited and our taxes will go up to pay the government's bills. The result will be more businesses bankruptcies and fewer jobs. To help all those who are out of work or struggling, he'll nationalize health care to ensure we all have access. When talk radio and newspapers start yelling he'll shut them down for the public good. After all, times will be difficult enough and he'll say we don't need those right-wing "traitors" stirring up trouble.

He'll blame it all on George W. Bush and the Republicans.

I'm beginning to wonder on some level if this isn't a long-term plan. When I hear that moves that would have or could have stopped the current crisis were voted against by Barack Obama and other Democrats, when I hear some of the background behind the current crisis, I wonder if a more devious mind than mine could have engineered things to this point.

Will we someday look back at this year as a pivotal point in the loss of our freedoms and the country we love so much?

Here's a letter to the Editor I'd like you to read and share around the Internet if you would:

Dear Editor, Times-Dispatch:

Each year I get to celebrate Independence Day twice. On June 30 I celebrate
my independence day, and on July 4 I celebrate America's. This year is special, because it marks the 40th anniversary of my independence.

On June 30, 1968, I escaped Communist Cuba, and a few months later, I was in the United States to stay. That I happened to arrive in Richmond on Thanksgiving Day is just part of the story, but I digress.

I've thought a lot about the anniversary this year. The election-year rhetoric has made me think a lot about Cuba and what transpired there.

In the late 1950s, most Cubans thought Cuba needed a change, and they were right. So when a young leader came along, every Cuban was at least receptive.

When the young leader spoke eloquently and passionately and denounced the old system, the press fell in love with him. They never questioned who his friends were or what he really believed in.

When he said he would help the farmers and the poor and bring free medical care and education to all, everyone followed. When he said he would bring justice and equality to all, everyone said, 'Praise the Lord.'

And when the young leader said, 'I will be for change and I'll bring you change,' everyone yelled, 'Viva Fidel!'

But nobody asked about the change, so by the time the executioner's guns went silent, the people's guns had been taken away.
By the time everyone was equal, they were equally poor, hungry, and
oppressed.
By the time everyone received their free education, it was worth nothing.
By the time the press noticed, it was too late, because they were now working for him.
By the time the change was finally implemented, Cuba had been knocked down a couple of notches to Third-World status.

By the time the change was over, more than a million people had taken to boats, rafts, and inner tubes. You can call those who made it ashore anywhere else in the world the most fortunate Cubans.

And now I'm back to the beginning of my story.

Luckily, we would never fall in America for a young leader who promised change without asking, what change? How will you carry it out? What will it cost America?

Would we?'

LYNN FORESTER DE ROTHSCHILD, MEMBER OF DNC PLATFORM COMMITTEE, ENDORSES JOHN MCCAIN

Today the McCain-Palin campaign announced the endorsement of Lynn Forester de Rothschild, a prominent Hillary Clinton supporter and member of the Democratic National Committee's Platform Committee.

"In an election as important at this, we must choose the candidate who has a proven record of bipartisanship and reforming government, and that's John McCain," Rothschild said. "We can't afford a president who lacks experience and judgment and has never crossed party lines to work for meaningful reform. Amid tough economic times and foreign policy concerns, we need someone who is ready to lead. Although I am a Democrat, I recognize that it's more important to put country ahead of party and that's why I support John McCain."

Rothschild, an attorney and businesswoman, supported Sen. Clinton during the Democratic primaries. She will campaign for Sen. McCain through Election Day.

"No Friend To Latinos On Immigration"

As they recall the failure of immigration reform in Congress, Democrats want to come off as the good guys. This means burying the fact that their patrons in organized labor instructed them to kill any compromise that included guest workers -- a concept AFL-CIO President John Sweeney termed 'a bad idea (that) harms all workers.' And it means trying to refute a new Spanish-language television ad from the McCain-Palin campaign that blames Barack Obama and other Senate Democrats for undermining immigration reform in 2007 with procedural delays and 'poison pill' amendments intended to make the legislation unpalatable to Republicans." -- San Diego Union Tribune's Ruben Navarette

"No Friend To Latinos On Immigration"San Diego Union TribuneRuben NavaretteSeptember 17, 2008

As they recall the failure of immigration reform in Congress, Democrats want to come off as the good guys.

This means burying the fact that their patrons in organized labor instructed them to kill any compromise that included guest workers -- a concept AFL-CIO President John Sweeney termed "a bad idea (that) harms all workers."

And it means trying to refute a new Spanish-language television ad from the McCain-Palin campaign that blames Barack Obama and other Senate Democrats for undermining immigration reform in 2007 with procedural delays and "poison pill" amendments intended to make the legislation unpalatable to Republicans.

Translated, the ad says: "Obama and his congressional allies say they are on the side of immigrants. But are they? The press reports that their efforts were 'poison pills' that made immigration reform fail. The result: No guest worker program. No path to citizenship. No secure borders. No reform. Is that being on our side? Obama and his congressional allies: Ready to block immigration reform, but not ready to lead."

That is exactly what happened. It was smart but cynical politics. Led by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Democrats were able to please the unions and deny a Republican president a huge legislative victory, all the while making it look as if the opposing party was to blame for the debacle.

Luckily, some members of the media kept their eye on the ball and put the blame where it belonged: on Reid and the Democrats. The Washington Post's David Broder, in a column published in June 2007, blasted Reid for going "out of his way to rewrite (the immigration bill) to meet the demands of organized labor."

Now, in response to the McCain-Palin ad, Democrats are practicing revisionist history. Sen. Robert Menendez of New Jersey said in a statement released by the Obama campaign: "To say that Barack Obama and Senate Democrats blocked the bill that Republicans filibustered is hypocritical and not true. John McCain has lost his credibility when it comes to the immigration issue. . . . (He) cannot attack Democrats on immigration in Spanish while pandering to the extreme right Tancredo wing of the Republican Party in English."

I understand that Menendez is trying to earn Obama's good graces after being a vocal supporter of Hillary Clinton in the primaries. But did he really compare McCain to Tom Tancredo, the nativist congressman who also sought the GOP nomination in this year's primaries?

Senator, I know Tom Tancredo. I've written about Tom Tancredo. And John McCain is no Tom Tancredo. One of the few things that these men share is a strong dislike for one another. In one debate, McCain described Tancredo's explanation of what makes someone an American as "beyond my realm of thinking."

Others on the left are also lending a hand to Democratic efforts at damage control. They include groups dedicated to the admirable goal of achieving comprehensive immigration reform. What is not so admirable is the way that these groups have turned on McCain, whom not long ago they praised for fighting the good fight on the immigration issue. Now they claim that McCain has flip-flopped.

Baloney. They're the ones who flip-flopped, and for no grander reason than because we're in an election year.

"We are stunned," declared Frank Sharry, executive director of America's Voice, a Washington-based liberal-leaning organization in a statement.

"A Spanish-language ad approved by Sen. John McCain accuses Sen. Obama and the Democrats of derailing immigration reform? He knows better. The whole political world knows better. Comprehensive immigration reform was blocked not by Democrats but by Republicans. . . . Immigrants and Latinos are intelligent. They know the difference between fact and fiction."

I always appreciate it when non-Latinos are patronizing and tell me what I should or shouldn't know. I know this much: Some folks inside the Beltway are so eager to put a Democrat in the White House that they're putting party before truth.

They include Latino groups such as the National Council of La Raza and the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund who, as Sharry said, should know better.

During a conference call this week with reporters, NCLR Vice President Cecilia Munoz also criticized the ad and called immigration an issue that "tends to determine who the good guys are and the bad guys are for Latinos."

That implies that these advocacy groups can tell the difference. That's the point. Blinded by partisanship, they haven't a clue.

Barack Obama Fails To Take An AIG Position

"On the biggest financial issue of the day, Barack Obama would not say if he supported or opposed the government-backed rescue of insurance giant AIG." -- Fox News' Major Garrett

Fox News' "Special Report"September 17, 2008

Fox News' Brit Hume: "The Democrat is not coming down one way or another on the AIG rescue. Correspondent Major Garrett explains why."

Fox News' Major Garrett: "On the biggest financial issue of the day, Barack Obama would not say if he supported or opposed the government-backed rescue of insurance giant AIG."
Barack Obama: "We don't know all the details of the arrangement with AIG and the Federal Reserve must ensure that plans protect the families that count on insurance."

Garrett: "Obama also wants taxpayers protected but executives and shareholders exposed but on the central question to intervene or not, Obama sidestepped. Advisers said lack of details forced caution. The larger political truth: advisors believe anxiety alone is enough to lift Obama in the polls. That is why on the trail, Obama doesn't talk about specifics of the moment but the nation's overall direction."

McCain-Palin 2008 Conference Call On John McCain's Support for the Auto Industry

Today, McCain-Palin 2008 held a press conference call with U.S Congresswoman Candice Miller and U.S. Congressman Pete Hoekstra, both Michigan Republicans, to discuss John McCain's support for the auto industry and his comments today at GM's plant in Lake Orion, Michigan:

U.S. Congresswoman Candice Miller: "It absolutely is important for us -- in order for us to gain the support of many Republican members of Congress all over the country, we have to have the very strong support of Senator John McCain. He is the leader of our party, and you have so many people here in Congress on our side of the aisle that are looking to him for guidance.

"I think his statement was absolutely critical. It solidifies what we have all been saying as members of the delegation, as well as what the CEOs have been saying. It amplifies what all of us have been saying as well, and it really is pivotal, I believe, in making a reality these $25 billion in auto loans, which we absolutely must do to save the auto industry.

"He also condemned the greed on Wall Street at the same time he was putting Michigan workers first by of course offering his very strong support on the loans as we try to retool the industry so that they can produce the vehicles of the future.

"I think it sends a very strong signal to the White House, who has not said too much about this yet, that this is what we need to do. It's not a Republican issue, it's not a Democratic issue, it's an American issue."

U.S. Congressman Pete Hoekstra: "I think it's important that Senator McCain made the comments today over on the east side of the state, and now that he's over on the west side of the state, because when we are talking about helping the automotive industry, this is not just an issue that confronts the east side of the state of Michigan. This is a statewide issue. Over here on the west side of the state, we've got a lot of automotive suppliers that are going to be impacted as new models are introduced.

"This, again, I think, speaks to Senator McCain's extraordinary leadership abilities, because he is looking at each situation. He understands that whatever kind of issue might be facing the next president -- and who knows what, but we know there's going to be huge challenges, whether it's national security or on economics or whatever -- he knows that the big issues that are facing our nation have to be solved in a bipartisan way."

Hackers get into Sarah Palin's personal email

Some people stoop so low they'd have to have an army to dig them out.

Hackers target Palin's e-mail account, post screenshots
1:29 PM Wed, Sep 17, 2008
Joel Thornton

Victor Godinez reports on our technology blog that Sarah Palin's personal e-mail account has been hacked into, and the contents posted online.

The McCain camp decried the hacking as a "shocking invasion of the governor's privacy and a violation of law."

By TED BRIDIS
Associated Press WASHINGTON -- Hackers broke into the Yahoo! e-mail account that Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin used for official business as Alaska's governor, revealing as evidence a few inconsequential personal messages she has received since John McCain selected her as his running mate.

"This is a shocking invasion of the governor's privacy and a violation of law. The matter has been turned over to the appropriate authorities and we hope that anyone in possession of these e-mails will destroy them," the McCain campaign said in a statement.

The Secret Service contacted The Associated Press on Wednesday and asked for copies of the leaked e-mails, which circulated widely on the Internet. The AP did not comply.

Oh NO! Sarah has a tanning bed!!!

What a scandal! How horrible! How can anyone vote for a woman who would have a tanning bed put in at the Governor's Mansion? Horror!

Who are they kidding? They (the media, Barack Obama's crew, the Democrats?) are trying to make a scandal out of Sarah Palin buying a tanning bed with her own money and putting it in the Governor's Mansion? Why? Because it's harmful to her skin?

I don't use one anymore, but getting inside a tanning bed and shutting out the world for fifteen minutes is like taking a mini-vacation from the world. Nice and warm and no noise from the outside world!

Of all the silly things to raise a fuss about! I know they're trying to find something bad on Sarah, but I don't think it really matters what they find unless it turns out she's pro-abortion or something along those lines.

Imagine having all the media and worker-bees running around digging into your life looking for some horrible secret or just something they could twist into a negative story!

They're trying to make the so-called "trooper gate" into an October surprise. I've read some of her emails, I've heard all the discussions about the situation and there's nothing there. Between you and me, even if it had turned out that she fired the guy because he wouldn't fire the guy who threatened to kill her father and tasered his stepson, I wouldn't care. If he's that ignorant and mean spirited then he shouldn't be working for her. The trooper was found guilty of tasering his stepson and making death threats and all he got was a five-day suspension. I would say that the guy who got fired was trying to stick it to Sarah. He openly thwarted her wishes, was insubordinate and she had the right to fire him for having a hang nail if she wanted. He served at her will.

Ah well, they keep trying to make mountains out of the proverbial mole hill and so far they haven't found anything that will stick. She's the Teflon woman! She's superwoman!

McCain on Finances

Saw in one of the other Read My Lipstick blogs that they'd tackled the financial market issue. I just rec'd the following from the McCain campaign so am going to beat the Barracuda Babes to the punch and post it! If you're tied into the network you may get it more than once!

Check out the newest member of the Read My Lipstick Network, http://welovesarahpalin.blogspot.com/ --- lots of cool stuff posted on there that I haven't found in other places.

Also, did you know that Meghan McCain has a blog? It's the McCain Blogette. Cute. I don't have a link at the moment, but I saw it on one of the other Lipstick blogs or I imagine you can do a search. I'll find it and post it on the sidebar sometime soon.

If I'm going to beat the Barracuda Babes I better post the official statement and quit chatting! By the way, don't you think it's reaching about as far as you can reach to try and paint John McCain and Sarah Palin as four more years of Bush? He has been blasted by the Republicans more than any other Republican I've ever heard about and yet they continue to try. Shows you how little substance they have to go on when trying to win the election! Now that Obama's star status is losing some of it's glow and people are paying attention, the real issues (along with the oomph provided by OUR Superwoman, Sarah Palin) are taking McCain to the top.

Here's the release:

U.S. Senator John McCain delivered the following remarks as prepared for delivery in Tampa, FL, today:

If Governor Palin and I are elected in 49 days, we are not going to waste a moment in changing the way Washington does business. And we're going to start where the need for reform is greatest. In short order, we are going put an end to the reckless conduct, corruption, and unbridled greed that have caused a crisis on Wall Street.

The working people of this state and this nation are the most innovative, the hardest working, the best skilled, most productive, most competitive in the world. This foundation of our economy, the American worker, is strong but it has been put at risk by the greed and mismanagement of Wall Street and Washington. The top of our economy is broken. We have seen self interest, greed, irresponsibility and corruption undermine the hard work of the American people. It is time to set things right, and I promise to get the job done as your president.

Americans put a lot of trust in the bankers and brokerage firms of Wall Street. They depend on the financial service sector to protect their savings, IRA's, 401k's, and pension accounts. But many leaders in finance have proven unworthy of that trust. Government has a clear responsibility to act in defense of the public interests, and that is exactly what I intend to do. We are going to make sure that American's accounts are protected. I pledge that FDIC and SPIC will have all the support they need to fully back the savings of the American people.

Too many people on Wall Street have been recklessly wagering instead of making the sound investments we expected of them. And when their companies collapse, only the CEO's seem to escape the consequences. While employees, shareholders, and other victims are left with nothing but trouble and debt, the people who helped cause the collapse make off with tens of millions in severance packages. I have spoken out against the excess of corporate executives, and I can assure you that if I am president, we're not going to tolerate that anymore. In my administration, we're going to hold people on Wall Street responsible. And we're going to enact and enforce reforms to make sure that these outrages never happen in the first place.

Too many people on Wall Street have forgotten or disregarded the basic rules of sound finance. In an endless quest for easy money, they dreamed up investment schemes that they themselves don't even understand. With their derivatives, credit default swaps, and mortgage backed securities they tried to make their own rules. But they could only avoid the basic rules of economics for so long. Now, as their schemes unravel in bankruptcies and collapse, it's once again the public who is left to bear the costs. And I promise you that on my watch, we are never going to let these kinds of abuses go uncorrected or unpunished.

Too many practices on Wall Street have been kept hidden from public view, to buy time and postpone the inevitable reckoning. Bad investments were made even worse, and risks allowed to multiply, by keeping them off the books. Derivatives, mortgage backed securities, and other complicated instruments often disguised foolish investments and were sold to insurance companies, pension funds, mutual funds, banks and individuals. When the housing markets collapsed and the value of these securities went way down, our banks couldn't pay their debts. We saw Bear Stearns collapse, followed by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. More recently Lehman Brothers filed for bankruptcy, and a troubled Merrill Lynch was sold to Bank of America in order to survive. And now we have other banks and insurance companies at risk.

So much of the loss and damage to our economy could have been avoided if these practices had been exposed to the light of day. People have a right to know when their jobs, pensions, investments, and our whole economy are being put at risked by the recklessness of Wall Street. And under my reforms for the financial sector, that fundamental right will be protected.
Too many firms on Wall Street have been able to count on casual oversight by regulatory agencies in Washington. And there are so many of those regulators that the responsibility for oversight is scattered, unfocussed and ineffective. Among others, we've got the SEC, the CFTC, the FDIC, the SPIC and the OCC. But for all their big and impressive sounding names, the fact is they haven't been doing their job right, or else we wouldn't have these massive problems on Wall Street. At their worse, they've been caught up in Washington turf wars instead of working together to protect investors and the public interests. And we don't need a dozen federal agencies doing the job badly -- we need the best federal agencies to do the job right.

Under my reforms, the American people will be protected by comprehensive regulations that will apply the rules and enforce them to the full. There will be constant access to the books and accounts of our banks and other financial institutions. By law, it will reduce the debt and risk that any bank can take on. And above all, I promise reforms to prevent the kind of wild speculation that can put our markets at risk, and has already inflicted such enormous damage across our economy.

Two years ago, I warned the administration and the Congress that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac needed to be fixed, and it turns out the problem was even bigger. They waited too long and now we have a housing crisis, three bailouts with taxpayers' money, and a financial crisis. As for the Congress, members in both parties must accept a share of the responsibility. Some members seemed to measure the financial health of banks and lenders by the size of their political contributions, instead of the extent of their debt. They listened to the lobbyists, instead of to the accountants. I can promise you the days of dealing and special favors will soon be over, and in a McCain-Palin administration the public interest will always come first.

Honest people on Wall Street -- and there are many -- will have a friend in the White House when I am president. The financial services industry plays a vital and honorable role in our economy, and I will seek reforms to help them to serve their shareholders and employees. But when any Wall Street operator abuses the trust of the public, then they will face the consequences, and they will have a fight on their hands with the president of the United States.
I will fight to reform Wall Street and to protect the savings and pensions of the American people. I will make sure that Washington works for your interests, and not the special interests. I will fight to make it easier for small business owners everywhere to grow and hire. I will fight to make sure you can afford a home loan or a student loan or a small business loan. I will fight to make sure we create more jobs here at home and prosperity for all Americans.

Hit job on Sarah Palin, CNN

The media keeps going after Sarah Palin and it is nauseating. Did anyone see the hit job CNN tried to do last night on Sarah Palin? Is the only person they could find to trash her a guy who looks like they had to clean up and take his vodka away from to talk nasty about her? The ex-mayor of Wasilla who Sarah Palin beat not just one, but twice? Duh. Do you expect him to say something nice about her? He tried to sound like he was being non-biased but gee, give me a break, my 5 year old could see through that (and did have a comment about the big things under his eyes... try explaining to a 5 year old why someone carries "bags" under their eyes, ha ha).

They tried to make it "balanced" by putting on some of her family. I bet if they'd known what was going to be done they wouldn't have participated. How much of what they said that was good got cut.

I learned last night how things can be twisted, a lesson I hadn't learned yet. I haven't been involved until this election and have had my news spoon-fed by the press in sound bites. No more.

It was amazing how just the right tone of voice, just the phrasing of the comments and questions by the commentator showed their bias and changed the meaning of answers and thoughts. Wow, what a lesson I learned last night!

I'll be sticking with Fox News from now on.

New ad on Sarah Palin titled "Disrespectful"

Not sure I like this commercial (although all I've done is read, haven't watched it yet). I don't know that it's possible to convey all the nastiness that is being thrown in her direction by the so-called support women and minority liberals. As a woman I am doubly offended by what is being done to Sarah Palin. I am wondering how Democrats can hear one thing from their Party that espouses equality and support then see them in action and believe a thing that is said. When you compare facts, real hard data, the Republican Party has more minorities and women in positions of power in the White House than any Democrat ever has. I don't understand how people can be so easily led and ignore facts for rhetoric.

I'm off subject but it's related! I'll watch the commercial and see if they're able to convey all the background data that is listed below. If it's not, then the commercial doesn't really hit the mark for me because unless you're like me, and you listen and read a lot of political stuff, it doesn't connect the dots well enough. Here's the info on the commercial and a link so you can watch it:

Today, McCain-Palin 2008 released its latest television ad, entitled "Disrespectful." The ad highlights the Obama campaign's desperate efforts to attack and smear Governor Sarah Palin. Yet, despite all their tactics, Governor Palin is demonstrating time and again that she will be the strong vice president our country needs. The ad will air in key states.

Script For "Disrespectful" (TV :30)

ANNCR: He was the world's biggest celebrity, but his star's fading.

So they lashed out at Sarah Palin.

Dismissed her as "good looking."

That backfired, so they said she was doing, "what she was told."

Then desperately called Sarah Palin a liar.

How disrespectful.

And how Governor Sarah Palin proves them wrong, every day.

JOHN MCCAIN: I'm John McCain and I approved this message.

AD FACTS: Script For "Disrespectful" (TV :30)

ANNCR: He was the world's biggest celebrity, but his star's fading. So they lashed out at Sarah Palin. Dismissed her as "good looking."

· Joe Biden Said One Of The Differences Between Him And Governor Palin Was "She's Good Looking." "In his introduction of Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., just now on the rooftop of the Toledo Public Library, Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., commented on the pulchritude of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, Sen. John McCain's newly-named running mate. ... 'From our perspective the whole deal is how does the government help you get back up without getting in the way?' Biden asked. 'There's a gigantic -- gigantic -- difference between John McCain and Barack Obama, and between me and I suspect my vice presidential opponent. And that is that -- ' The crowd laughed. 'Well there's obvious differences,' Biden said, beginning to ham it up. 'She's good looking,' he said, laughing. 'You know there's obvious differences. But there's a whole lot -- '" (Jake Tapper and Matt Jaffe, "Oh, That Joe! (Number 4 in a Series) -- Biden on Difference Between Him And Palin: 'She's Good Looking'," ABC News' "Political Punch" Blog, http://blogs.abcnews.com, Posted 8/31/08)

ANNCR: That backfired, so they said she was doing, "what she was told."
· Obama Chief Strategist David Axelrod: Governor Palin Did "What She Was Told." "My colleague Carrie Budoff Brown reports that David Axelrod spoke to reporters about Sarah Palin on the plane in Pennsylvania: Obama chief strategist David Axelrod said Gov. Sarah Palin is a 'skilled politician' who 'had an assignment and she went out and she discharged it.' ... 'Right down the line,' he said. 'She tried to attack Obama by saying he had no significant legislative accomplishments -- maybe that's what she was told -- but she should talk to Sen. Lugar, talk to Sen. Coburn, talk to people across the aisle in Illinois where he passed dozens of major laws to expand health care reform welfare, reduce taxes on working families. So I think she had an assignment and she went out and she discharged it.'" (Ben Smith, "Axelrod On Palin," Politico, 9/4/08)

ANNCR: Then desperately called Sarah Palin a liar. How disrespectful. And how Governor Sarah Palin proves them wrong, every day.

JOHN MCCAIN: I'm John McCain and I approved this message.

· Obama Response Ad: Governor Palin "Lying" About Her Record. OBAMA AD: "They call themselves mavericks. Whoa. Truth is, they're anything but. John McCain is hardly a maverick, when seven of his top campaign advisers are Washington lobbyists. He's no maverick when he votes with Bush 90 percent of the time. And Sarah Palin's no maverick either. She was for the Bridge to Nowhere before she was against it. Politicians lying about their records? You don't call that maverick. You call it more of the same." (Obama Response Ad, 9/8/08)

· Obama National Finance Committee Member Howard Gutman Questioned Whether Governor Palin Should Be Running Since She Has Five Children, Including A Child With Down Syndrome. "On the Laura Ingraham Radio show, Friday, attorney Howard Gutman -- an original member of the national finance committee for Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill. -- very directly criticized the parenting of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. ... Gutman said the issue wasn't one of gender, but one of parenting -- regardless of the gender of the parent. 'This has nothing to do with gender, whether Todd Palin was the nominee or Sarah Palin was the nominee,' Gutman said. 'If my daughter had just come home at 17 years old and said, 'Mom, Dad, I'm pregnant, we have a family problem,' I wouldn't say, "You know what we're going to do? We're going to take this private family problem...and you know what I'm going to do? I'm going to go on the international stage and broadcast this to t he world."' Gutman continued, 'this wasn't a working mother issue, this was a parent issue... The proper attack is not that a woman shouldn't run for vice president with five kids, it's that a parent, when they have a family in need, a Down's baby who needs them -- mother or father.'" (Jake Tapper, "Obama Campaign National Finance Committee Member Criticizes Palin's Parenting," ABC News' "Political Punch" Blog, http://blogs.abcnews.com, Posted 9/5/08)

· Carol Fowler, The South Carolina Democratic Chairwoman, Said Governor's Palin's "Primary Qualification Seems To Be That She Hasn't Had An Abortion." "South Carolina Democratic chairwoman Carol Fowler sharply attacked Sarah Palin today, saying John McCain had chosen a running mate 'whose primary qualification seems to be that she hasn't had an abortion.'" (Jonathan Martin, "S.C. Dem Chair: Palin Primary Qualification Is She Hasn't Had An Abortion," Politico, http://www.politico.com, Posted 9/10/08)

· Obama Florida Co-Chair Representative Robert Wexler (D-FL) Said That Governor Palin Was A Supporter Of Pat Buchanan Who He Called A "Nazi Sympathizer." "Here's Rep. Robert Wexler of Florida: John McCain's decision to select a vice presidential running mate that endorsed Pat Buchanan for President in 2000 is a direct affront to all Jewish Americans. Pat Buchanan is a Nazi sympathizer with a uniquely atrocious record on Israel, even going as far as to denounce bringing former Nazi soldiers to justice and praising Adolf Hilter for his 'great courage.'" (Ben Smith, "Palin On Israel," Politico, http://www.politico.com, Posted 8/29/08)

· The Obama Campaign Linked Governor Palin As A Supporter Of Pat Buchanan Who They Called A "Nazi Sympathizer." "'Palin was a supporter of [MSNBC analyst] Pat Buchanan, a right-winger or as many Jews call him: a Nazi sympathizer,' Obama spokesman Mark Bubriski wrote in an email." (Marc Caputo, "Obama Camp Connects The Dots For Jews: McCain...Palin...Buchanan...Nazis," The Miami Herald's "Naked Politics" Blog, http://miamiherald.typepad.com, Posted 8/30/08)

· Obama Supporter Representative Steve Cohen (D-TN) Said "Jesus Was A Community Organizer, Pontius Pilate A Governor." "Last seen in election 2008 comparing Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, to the villain played by Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction, -- having survived an anti-Semitic primary challenge -- Rep. Steve Cohen, D-Tenn., feels liberated to come on the House floor and say that 'Jesus was a community organizer, Pontius Pilate a governor.' Prediction: the Democrats will soon put him in a sack and throw him in a basement." (Jake Tapper, "Obama-Backing Congressman: Jesus Was A Community Organizer, Pontius Pilate A Governor'," ABC News' "Political Punch" Blog, http://blogs.abcnews.com, Posted 9/10/08)

· Announced Obama Supporter Former Sen. Lincoln Chafee Called Governor Palin A "Cocky Wacko." "Former Rhode Island Republican Sen. Lincoln Chafee has called vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin a 'cocky wacko' and said her selection as John McCain's running mate has energized supporters of Democrat Barack Obama. Chafee left the Republican Party last year after losing his bid for re-election and now supports Obama. He told an audience Tuesday at the New America Foundation in Washington that the Alaska governor has revived a 'lackluster McCain candidacy.'" Yawn... Stayed up late to watch Sarah last night...

I didn't intend to stay up to watch as Sarah Palin landed and then spoke in Alaska last night, but just couldn't help myself. As I walked by to say goodnight to my husband they started talking about the crowds who had been waiting to greet her and I was hooked.

I'm so glad I stayed up to watch, although I did have to listen to reporters on CNN grousing about how no one would have ever figured we'd be watching a Vice Presidential candidate at that time of night... They were all complaining about having to stay up late it seems.

Sarah Palin is on-fire. She rocks and she IS the new superwoman!

Her talk was great last night. She knows just when to say, enough! She brings just the right touch of seriousness and humor to a talk. Obama has to be jealous as she DOES know how to excite and exhort and fire people up!

Obama's hesitating and hemming and hawing just about drives me nuts when I listen to him. I don't know why he's considered such a great speaker. But hey, he's not my guy anyway and I gather from talking to friends on the "other side" that it is not permissible to say anything negative about Obama. You have to think it in your head. I have friends who are Democrats who are SCARED to say they don't like Obama or that they disagree with something he says because they get vilified. Wow. That is seriously BAD.

I like Sarah Palin, but I'm not going to have a problem in the world saying I disagree with this or that when the time comes. I'm sure I won't like some of the things she says or does. I'd never shoot a moose or eat a mooseburger...

Gotta run, have a meeting... just wanted to say that I thought Sarah did a FANTASTIC job last night and I loved the enthusiasm of the crowd!

(How come mooseburger isn't in my spellcheck list of OK words yet???)
